With The Community Cup, presented by The Columbus Foundation, just over two months away, competition for The Cup and accompanying bragging rights is starting to heat up. Even if your team is a little behind on its roster selections or you’re still trying to show the office all the benefit of a corporate challenge, there’s one area of the competition where you’re sure to succeed: The Giant Eagle Tailgate Zone.
Like last year, The Community Cup’s social epicenter will be The Giant Eagle Tailgate Zone. As members of your team need to take a quick break or are waiting for scheduled events to start, they’ll want a place to recharge and regroup. Every team gets a tent, but why stop there? Competing all day can be hard work, and you’re going to build up an appetite! With the help of Giant Eagle, each team at The Community Cup can have breakfast and/or lunch catered right to their team tent. Place your team’s order ahead of time and let Giant Eagle do the rest. After all, you’re going to have enough to focus on during the events!
Make it a Comfortable Place to Strategize AND Relax
If there's one thing we know, it’s that The Community Cup is made entirely better with food, drinks and friends. Bring extra chairs to make sure every team member has a place to sit and have plenty of sports drinks on hand to boost electrolytes. Make the space accommodating with banners, motivational posters and company signage. Keeping your team HQ inviting, organized and comfortable will keep team spirit high throughout event day.
Network with the Best of the Best in Columbus
Although it’s a fierce competition, The Community Cup is also a gathering of some of the best organizations and employees in the Columbus business community. Take advantage of the casual weekend environment and do some networking on event day! If you ever wanted to know more about a neighboring business, feel free to stop by and make introductions. We definitely recommend exchanging business cards and pleasantries here before you take that team on in a cutthroat game of dodgeball or cornhole.
Show off Company Culture
Don’t be afraid to show off your organization, too! Let your company’s supportive culture shine through by playing games or creating team cheers and chants on event day. Prepare a good luck send-off of high fives as your team members make their way to the 5K start line or onto the courts. The teamwork and camaraderie will not go unnoticed by those around you. Make it a Place for the Whole Family
You may be spending your Saturday morning with your co-workers, but you don’t have to deprive your friends and family of all the fun. Family members are invited to join the 5K and One-Mile Walk and then stick around for rest of the competition! The Family Fun Zone will offer activities for the kids all day, but the Giant Eagle Tailgate Zone is a great place to gather your group and make The Community Cup a family-friendly day. Make sure your support squad is ready to cheer you to victory by bringing them into the team tent environment!
