Greater Columbus Convention Center | Union Station Ballroom
Wednesday, August 10 | 7–9:15 a.m.

The Greater Columbus Sports Commission will host The Morning Sports Report, presented by Marathon, on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 from 7-9:15 a.m., at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in the new Union Station Ballroom. Central Ohio’s marquee annual sports town hall meeting provides fans an inside look at the region’s sports scene, featuring its teams, notable figures, upcoming events and a Fan Fair full of interactive exhibits from sports organizations.

The Morning Sports Report will celebrate the 2016 U.S. Senior Open Championship, conducted by the United States Golf Association (USGA) and held at Scioto Country Club this August. The course will be celebrating its centennial anniversary and will host the USGA’s signature event 30 years after hosting it in 1986. To commemorate the start of competition on Thursday, August 11, FOX Sports broadcasters Joe Buck, Paul Azinger and Curtis Strange and producer Mark Loomis will headline the breakfast for more than 900 attendees.

Joe Buck, FOX Sports lead play-by-play announcer for USGA, NFL and MLB coverage, is a seven-time Emmy Award winner in his 23rd season with the network. Buck will be joined in the broadcast booth at this year’s U.S. Senior Open by lead analyst and veteran broadcaster Paul Azinger, a 30-year PGA Tour veteran and 12-time winner on Tour, including the 1993 PGA Championship.

Buck and Azinger will be joined by two-time U.S. Open Champion Curtis Strange as an on-course reporter and analyst at the U.S. Senior Open. A veteran of more than two decades on the PGA Tour, Strange won 17 tournaments during his accomplished career, highlighted by back-to-back victories at the 1988 and 1989 U.S. Opens, just the sixth player in history to accomplish the feat. Rounding out the interview will be Mark Loomis, the Emmy-award winning Coordinating Producer for USGA Studio & Event Production. Loomis oversees the preparation and execution of eight USGA championships broadcasts across FOX Sports’ linear and digital platforms.

The Sports Commission, in collaboration with Ohio State Athletics, the Columbus Blue Jackets, Columbus Clippers and Columbus Crew SC, will soon announce additional special guests participating in The Morning Sports Report to share other significant developments in our sports community. Greater Columbus Sports Commission Executive Director Linda Shetina Loganwill provide a look back on the organization’s milestones in the last year and a look forward to major events in the region ahead.
