Earlier this year, the Pro Volleyball Federation announced the formation of a professional women’s volleyball team in Columbus. Now, they have a name, venue and start date. The Columbus Fury will open its 24-match regular season in February 2024 at Nationwide Arena.

“This is a very exciting day for our family and for the city of Columbus,” Fury co-owner Jeff Gilger said. “We considered many, many prospective names, and our goal was to come up with an identity that would be transformative within the market and represent the elegant power and athletic ability of our world-class athletes, along with an aggressive spirit that comes with breaking a glass ceiling and embracing new opportunities.”

As host of the 2016 and 2021 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship, Columbus is a volleyball hub. Learn more about the history of volleyball in Columbus or ready more about the formation of the Fury in the official release
