It’s time to Run it Back, Columbus!
Like every great story in sports, ours is a comeback. The process to bring the Women’s Final Four to Columbus started with a lost bid in 2008. Ten years later, after regrouping and linking across public & private sectors, the city came together to host an incredible event. In 2027, we get to do it again.

Nationwide Arena will once again be the site of one of the best spectacles in sports. In 2018, the Women’s Final Four brought two buzzer beaters and a national championship for the Notre Dame. Confetti rained atop the Fighting Irish as Columbus reigned atop the sports world. Here’s a few highlights from last time:
-
$21.7MM+ in direct visitor spending
-
39,000+ fans, 83% of visitors came from outside Ohio and 60% were first-time visitors
-
32,700+ hotel rooms
-
7.62 viewers on ESPN
In the spirit of running things back, run back this thread from when we were named finalists back in June to see what all the hype is (and was) about.
