Where Former Players Step Back in the Box

Baseball is back—but not the kind you watch from the stands. This is your chance to play again.

Sluggball, the reimagined version of baseball built for former players who miss the thrill of making solid contact, is coming to Huntington Park in Columbus on Saturday, June 14, 2025. Whether you last played in high school, college, or with your buddies in a weekend league, Sluggball is your invitation to swing with a purpose—and maybe even win some cash.

Here are the Top 10 things to know before stepping up to the plate at Sluggball Columbus.

1. Kenny Lofton Will Be There (Yes, That Kenny Lofton)

Six-time MLB All-Star. Cleveland Baseball Hall of Famer. One of the most electric players of his era. Kenny Lofton is the special guest ambassador for Sluggball Columbus. He’ll be on site to talk baseball, take photos, and meet participants throughout the event. It’s not every day you get to swap stories with a baseball legend—and definitely not while you’re lacing up your cleats.

2. You’re Guaranteed to Play at Least Two Games

Every team gets a two-game minimum, with the top squads moving on to the championship round. The winners take home $3,000, bragging rights, and a place in Sluggball history.

3. It’s All About Hitting—No Fielding or Base Running

Sluggball eliminates the wear and tear by removing fielding and base running. You’ll focus on the best part of the game: situational hitting. You’ll compete in four hitting rounds—Pull Side, Up the Middle, Opposite Field, and Around the Horn—with a scoring system that rewards control, consistency, and clutch swings.

4. You Bring Your Own Pitcher

You can choose anyone you trust to throw hittable pitches—an old teammate, your coach, or a teammate from your team. The key is familiarity, because your squad’s success depends on making solid contact and placing the ball with intent.

5. It’s a Team Game—But in a Totally New Format

Each team includes 4 hitters on the field at a time, but your roster can be 6 to 8 players total. That gives you plenty of time to rotate, cheer each other on, and build chemistry throughout the day.

6. Premium Swag Is Included

Your registration includes on-field apparel from Branded Bills and Under Armour so you’ll look as good as you swing.

7. There’s a Catered Lunch and Cash Bar

You’ll be playing hard, but you won’t go hungry. Sluggball includes a catered lunch for all participants, along with access to a cash bar to keep things social before and after your games.

8. The Vibe Is Competitive—But Chill

Sluggball brings out the fire in every former player—but it’s also built on camaraderie, fun and nostalgia. The goal? Compete hard, reconnect with teammates, and relive what made baseball special in the first place.

9. It All Happens at Huntington Park

Sluggball Columbus takes place at Huntington Park, home of the Columbus Clippers and one of the premier minor league ballparks in the country. From the moment you step onto the field, you’ll feel like a pro again.
