Central Ohio’s Marquee Sports Community Gathering Adds Special Guests in Coaches from NHL and MLS Franchises, GM from MiLB Team and NCAA Athletic Director

Joining the roster for the Greater Columbus Sports Commission’s The Morning Sports Report, presented by Marathon, will be Columbus Blue Jackets Head Coach John Tortorella, Clippers President and General Manager Ken Schnacke, Crew SC Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter and Ohio State Senior Vice President and Wolfe Foundation Endowed Athletics Director Gene Smith.
Attendees will hear interviews with each sports leader. Tortorella was named Coach for Team USA for the 2016 World Cup of Hockey this fall, Berhalter led Crew SC’s 2015 playoff run to the MLS Cup championship match and Schnacke led the Clippers to their third Governors’ Cup Championship in six years and 10th in franchise history. Smith was awarded the James J. Corbett Memorial Award, the highest honor one can achieve in collegiate athletics administration, by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and NCAA Athletic Director of the Year by SportsBusiness Journal this year.
The Morning Sports Report, Central Ohio’s marquee annual sports town hall meeting, on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 from 7-9:15 a.m., at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in the new Union Station Ballroomwill celebrate the 2016 U.S. Senior Open Championship, conducted by the United States Golf Association (USGA) and held at Scioto Country Club this August. The course will be celebrating its centennial anniversary and will host the USGA’s signature event 30 years after hosting it in 1986.
FOX Sports broadcasters Joe Buck, Paul Azinger, Curtis Strange and producer Mark Loomis will commemorate the start of competition on Thursday, August 11, at the breakfast for more than 900 attendees. Interviewing the U.S. Senior Open panel will be FOX Sports Ohio’s Jimmy Hanlin, PGA golf pro and two-time Emmy winner and host of “18 Holes with Jimmy Hanlin” on FOX. Hanlin is also the host of the ESPN Cleveland’s radio talk show, “The Northern Ohio PGA Golf Show” and has worked with WKYC-Channel 3 and WJW-Fox 8.
Greater Columbus Sports Commission Executive Director Linda Shetina Loganwill also provide a look back on the organization’s milestones in the last year and a look ahead to major events being hosted in the region.
