Top-Ranked Ohio State Men’s Volleyball Team is Ready for Another Championship Run

The Ohio State men’s volleyball team is undefeated and riding a 36-match winning streak. The Buckeyes are ranked No. 1 in the nation, are the defending national champions and feature two of the premier players in the country: Nicolas Szerszen (the 2016 American Volleyball Coaches Association Player of the Year and All America First Team) and Miles Johnson (an AVCA All America First Team and 2016 NCAA Tournament MVP).

BLOG: Record Attendance Highlights NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship in Columbus

By Steve Wartenberg | The second-largest crowd – 17,345 people – in the history of the NCAA Division I Volleyball Championship filled Nationwide Arena to watch Stanford and Texas battle for the title on Saturday night.

BLOG: NCAA DI Women’s Volleyball Championship Set to Thrill Fans in Columbus

By Steve Wartenberg | They’re here: The top volleyball teams and players in the country, all the hitters, blockers and setters from Nebraska, Texas, Stanford and Minnesota.

And they’re here for the NCAA Div. I Women’s Volleyball Championship at Nationwide Arena. Stanford and Minnesota play in the first semifinal Thursday at 7 p.m., and Texas will play defending champion Nebraska at 9:30 in a rematch of last year’s finals.

COLUMBUS (December 5, 2016) – Only sixteen teams remain with a shot at the 2016 national championship to be contested in Columbus. The top four seeds in the Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship advanced through first- and second-round competition and will host regional matches December 9 and 10 on campus sites.

BLOG: NCAA Volleyball Bracket Features Strong Competition for Buckeyes

By Steve Wartenberg | Before the current season began, something suddenly clicked in the mind of Geoff Carlston, coach of The Ohio State University women’s volleyball team: The NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship was coming to Columbus and Nationwide Arena on December 15 and 17.

“I didn’t really get it until seven or eight months ago, when I started thinking, ‘wow, this is going to be a pretty big deal,’” said the Buckeyes coach, adding “we really wanted to give ourselves an opportunity to be in that final four.”

BLOG: Where in Columbus is the NCAA Volleyball Trophy?

November 17, 2016 | It’s double duty for this week’s Trophy Tour post! Not only is Trophy sharing the good news about the NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship in December, but  the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) is hosting its third consecutive State Football Championship at the Shoe in the same month. So who better for Trophy to visit than former Buckeye A.J. Hawk?

Trophy spent some one-on-one time with A.J. and learned a little more about him. A.J. grew up in Centerville, Ohio and attended Centerville High School, where he was a two-time OHSAA All-State Player.
