“It was in my second year of playing, with the Westerville Worms,” said the Westerville native and member of the new PRO Rugby Ohio professional team. “It was a home game and I took a hard line, broke two tackles and scored a try. It was addictive.”
Team Joins San Francisco, San Diego and Sacramento Franchises
Former Head Coach for the USA Men’s Rugby Sevens team, Al Caravelli, will be at Ohio State University’s – Fred Beekman Park next Friday, May 25th at 4pm. Coach Caravelli will be running a FREE Olympic Rugby Clinic. This clinic is OPEN to all high school athletes who are interested in playing in the upcoming Columbus High School Olympic Rugby Conference and to all interested Rugby coaches.
USA Rugby, Rugby Ohio and The Ohio State University Rugby team are teaming up for “Rugby Week” in Columbus Ohio, April 4th-9th, 2011.
After the announcement that both Men’s and Women’s Rugby had recently been added to the 2016 Olympic games in Rio, USA Rugby came up with an initiative called “Rookie Rugby” to help the next generation of Olympic Rugby Athletes understand the sport of rugby at an earlier age. Rookie Rugby is a non-contact version of the sport and is being pushed in schools across America.
