Ruckus Columbus, a four mile long obstacle course race, will be held August 27 at the Ohio Expo Center and State Fair. Featuring over 20 large scale obstacles on a course designed for a wide range of fitness levels, click here to get a preview. Participants can run as an individual or as part of a team. Top 10% of finishers from each Division (Men’s, women’s, Men’s Master, Women’s Master) run the course again at the end of the day in the Champions Heat.

Bob Hunter, sports columnist for the Columbus Dispatch, will be the featured author at the Thurber House Summer Literary Picnic on Wednesday, August 3. Hunter will give a 45-minute reading of his new book, Chic, followed by a 15-minute Q&A and book signing.
This Saturday, NASCAR will be making its first trip to the Famed Buckeye State Third-Mile, also known as Columbus Motor Speedway (CMS). The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will make its inaugural appearance in Columbus as the Jegs 150 will be contested at CMS.

While the Columbus Blue Jackets have kept ice hockey at top of mind in Columbus during this hot summer with their trades, signings and draftees, the Ohio State Men’s Ice Hockey team has also made news in the NHL.

Columbus is one of the few cities in the country to have two signature running events in a year, with the Columbus Marathon in the fall on October 16 and the Capital City Half Marathon in the spring.
In 2010 the Nationwide Better Health Columbus Marathon was one of the 25 largest marathons in the United States and this Saturday, July 9 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Huntington Ballpark, more than 1,000 people are expected to kick off their Nationwide Insurance Columbus Marathon or 1/2 Marathon training at the second annual RunFest celebration event.
