The Ohio Regional Training Center has a goal of supporting 7 Olympic Hopefuls (one in each weight category) in the sport of wrestling at the 2012 Olympic Trials. Additionally, our organization provides world-class training opportunities for elite developmental athletes in the area, along with a very strong and consistent community service initiative. We are a non-profit, 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization that exists in Columbus, Ohio to fuel the Olympic Dream.

Top NCAA I-A, II, III and NAIA College Football Players Featured this Weekend in the Ohio Army National Guard Senior Bowl IIApr 19
The best college football players within the state of Ohio will showcase their talents this Saturday, April 23rd in the 2011 Ohio Army National Guard Senior Bowl II. The Senior Bowl features 90 of the top NCAA I-A, II, III and NAIA football players in the state. The game will be played at Columbus Crew Stadium with kick off slated for 5 p.m. Coach Lee Owens (Ashland University) will lead the North team and Coach Henry Standford(Capital University) will head-up the South team.
Tickets can be purchased online through ticketmaster or at the Columbus Crew Ticket Box Office. All tickets are general admission. Pre-sale tickets are $10. Game-day tickets are $12. Children 2-years and under are free.

In 2010, Columbus had the distinct privilege of hosting the National Association of Sports Commission’s (NASC) Sports Event Symposium, the organization’s national conference. This event annually brings together representatives from over 300 cities and organizers from specific sporting events. This past week, the Greater Columbus Sports Commission team traveled to Greensboro, NC for the conference and here were some of our major takeaways:

Limited Brands Inc., headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, is the parent company of Victoria’s Secret Pink. Pink has worked with Major League Baseball Properties to design a line of women’s sports apparel. For the 2011 season 23 teams will be made available to baseball fans. All 30 MLB Properties will be represented in 2012.
USA Rugby, Rugby Ohio and The Ohio State University Rugby team are teaming up for “Rugby Week” in Columbus Ohio, April 4th-9th, 2011.
After the announcement that both Men’s and Women’s Rugby had recently been added to the 2016 Olympic games in Rio, USA Rugby came up with an initiative called “Rookie Rugby” to help the next generation of Olympic Rugby Athletes understand the sport of rugby at an earlier age. Rookie Rugby is a non-contact version of the sport and is being pushed in schools across America.
