She has been the executive director of the GCSC since its inception in 2002. Previously, Linda was the director of sports marketing for the Greater Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau and the director of sales and services at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. Prior to moving back to Ohio, Linda spent 10 years in Kansas City, Mo., working for the Kansas City Convention Center, the Big Eight Conference, the Kemper Arena and the Kansas City Comets of the Major Indoor Soccer League. She also worked for the Milwaukee Does of the Women’s Basketball League and the Cleveland Nets of World Team Tennis. An Ohio University graduate, Linda is on the advisory board of the Sports Administration and Facility Management Program. She also is the past national chair of the board of the National Association of Sports Commissions and a current board member for the AAA Ohio Auto Club.

A die-hard baseball fan, Linda never goes on vacation without first checking the MLB schedule, and she has seen two no-hitters. For Linda, knowing that you can make a difference is what makes Columbus so great. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, reading and connecting with friends. Linda is married (to husband Will) and describes herself as fun, loyal, happy, committed and open.

Brian Timm

Brian Timm, Director, Corporate Partnerships

Hometown: Troy, Ohio

A graduate of Wittenberg University, Brian also holds a master’s degree in sport administration from Ohio University. Before joining the GCSC team in January 2007, Brian was the director of sales and executive producer for the Ohio State Coaches Shows. He has also worked as the sales manager for the Ohio State Buckeyes Radio Sports Network and was an account executive for 1460 The Fan. He also spent six years with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Brian has a lifelong love for football – his most memorable sporting accomplishment is contributing to a successful high school football team. Here in Columbus, Brian and his family cheer on the Buckeyes and enjoy the city’s great restaurants. He loves to sing and enjoys reading in his spare time. Brian describes himself as caring, enthusiastic and passionate. He is married (to wife Ann) with two daughters (Caroline and Emily).

Brenda Carter

Brenda joined the Greater Columbus Sports Commission in July 2012 after being with Experience Columbus for more than 11 years as a Sales Information Coordinator. She provided administrative support to the Director of Convention Sales and the Associate Director of Convention Sales while managing all aspects of the database, reports and bid books along with tracking and assigning all general sales inquiries and leads. Prior to entering the hospitality and tourism industry, Brenda held positions with Ohio Magazine, Broadview Mortgage Company and Mid-America Federal S&L.

Brenda enjoys working out at the Groveport Recreation Club, walking the trails at several Central Ohio metro parks, working in her yard and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandson, Jaxon.

Jeremy Leifel

Jeremy joined the Greater Columbus Sports Commission in November 2013 as Senior Sales Manager.  Prior to joining the GCSC team, he worked as Senior Sales Manager at the Auburn Hills Marriott in Michigan.  Jeremy graduated from Northern Illinois University’s College of Business with a Bachelors of Organization Management and a minor in Spanish.  He also had the opportunity to study abroad in Barcelona, Spain which was one of his most memorable experiences.  Jeremy grew up in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago and is passionate for playing and watching sports.  He still remains active by running half and full marathons and participating in intramural sports. Outside of work, Jeremy loves to spend time with family and friends, traveling to new cities and exploring the Columbus restaurant scene.

Lauren McCarty

Lauren joined the Greater Columbus Sports Commission in July 2013 when she took on the role of Sales Manager. She previously worked at Experience Columbus, starting as a Sales Assistant in 2010 and later was promoted to Sales Information Coordinator. Lauren graduated from The University of Toledo where she obtained her Bachelors of Business Administration with a minor in International Business. She also had the opportunity to participate in a study abroad program at Griffith University in the Gold Coast of Australia.

Her passion for sports dates back to her involvement in high school volleyball, running half marathons and participating in intramural sports throughout college and now in Columbus. Outside of the office, Lauren enjoys spending time with family and friends, stays active through local fitness programs, regularly experiences the Columbus food scene and is always looking to explore new cities.

Eric Archibald

Eric Archibald, Director, Events

Eric joined the GCSC from Sports America, Inc. where he was a Project Manager.  His golf background consists of Operations Manager at Global Golf Management in Chicago, IL and Sales Manager at The Boeing Championship at Sandestin in Destin, FL.  Prior to those roles, he was the Assistant Director of Merchandise for the Columbus Clippers.  The Ohio State alum possesses both a Masters of Arts in Sports Management and a Bachelors degree with an emphasis in Sports Marketing from The Max M. Fisher College of Business.

Ariana Tyler

Ariana Tyler, Events Coordinator

Hometown: Oxford, Michigan

Ariana, is the newest member of the Sports Commission team and is a recent graduate of Miami University. During her time at Miami, she took the opportunity to study abroad in Luxembourg and traveled throughout Europe. She is a certified athletic trainer and interned with the Miami University football team.

For the majority of her life, Ariana has ridden competitively in the Hunter Jumper horse show circuit. She also has a passion for competing in the water and rowed crew in high school.

Ariana enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, exploring restaurants, and she always looks forward to the kick-off of college football.

Bruce Wimbish

Bruce Wimbish, Director, Marketing & Communications

Hometown: Columbus, Ohio

A Columbus native, he has done a tour of Ohio and ended up right back here, in what he calls the best city in the state. Bruce has an undergraduate degree from the University of Cincinnati, as well as an M.A. in sport management and an M.B.A. from Ohio State. He spent seven years with the Cleveland Cavaliers, most recently as the basketball communications manager, before returning to Columbus to join the GCSC team in December 2010. Bruce enjoys weightlifting and playing basketball – in fact, being on the court with LeBron James is his most memorable sporting moment. He’ll never go on vacation without an itinerary, but when he’s winging it at home, he enjoys spending time in Columbus’ entertainment districts – the Arena District, the Short North and Easton. Bruce is married (to wife Camille), and sees himself as a well-rounded person of integrity.

Ashlee Hayes

A Kent State University graduate, she has worked at the GCSC since October 2009. Previously, Ashlee was the special projects and events coordinator at the Ohio Wine Producers Association and the recreation manager at The Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake.

Ashlee sees herself as passionate, driven and committed. She enjoys Columbus’ emerging food scene and spends her free time exploring our great city with her family and friends. Ashlee spent two weeks in Malawi, Africa, on a missions trip and can’t wait to go back.

Jenn Cartmille

Jenn Cartmille, Marketing Manager

Jenn joined the Greater Columbus Sports Commission team as Marketing Manager in the summer of 2015. A graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s in Strategic Communication, she knew from the moment she received her diploma that Columbus would be her forever home. Jenn is an experienced marketing professional who is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) from West Virginia University. A Buckeye at heart, she is an avid OSU football and basketball fan. Attending and watching the Buckeyes win the 2010 Rose Bowl is one of her most memorable experiences.

She wholeheartedly believes there’s always something to do in Columbus. Whether it’s trying a new restaurant, visiting a small business for local goods or watching a regional sports team win, Columbus is Jenn’s favorite city for many reasons. A mother to a 7-pound dog (Gunner), Jenn considers herself to be a passionate, focused and determined individual.

Laura Brown

Laura Brown, Marketing & Events Assistant

Laura, a former intern with the Greater Columbus Sports Commission, joins full time as the Marketing and Events Assistant. She graduated from The Ohio State University in 2014, majoring in Sport Industry with a minor in Communications. She previously worked for OSU’s Recreational Sports Department as a Club Sport Supervisor and two years at the Columbus Clippers as a Front Office Intern.

Laura played volleyball all throughout high school and also played club volleyball at OSU. She is very passionate about Detroit Tigers baseball and Buckeye football! She also enjoys reading, hanging out with friends and family, shopping in Columbus’ many great locations, and watching all kinds of sports.
